Doug Phillips . drums . vocals

“I can’t remember a time that I didn’t want to play drums”. Growing up with a professional drummer father, Doug‘s prime goal in his early years was to own a set of drums. After working as a paperboy and saving four years of Christmas tip money, Doug bought his first set of drums at the age of 13. One year later, Doug formed his first rock trio called The Crooked Line. Over the years, Doug has played drums for various funk bands which included a stint with The Three Degrees of “When Will I See You Again” fame.

After years on the road, Doug returned home and found a job as a draftsman. During this time Doug became friends with a guitarist by the name of Sam Rawhauser (Lugar). For extra money, they formed a lounge band called Raz but soon found that playing for the happy hour crowd was less than satisfying and set out determined to form a band the likes that Lancaster had not seen before. The Sharks were born.

In 1997, Doug graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Temple University. Doug resides in the Lancaster area with his wife and two daughters.
